This armor has been reproduced as faithfully as possible using traditional techniques inherited by the craftsmen of present day Hikone.
The iron plates and chains are lacquered, the two horns attached to the helmet are covered in gold leaf, and the metal fixtures are gold plated. Unnecessary ornamentation has been eliminated from the form to make it suitable for actual battle, therefore expressing the authentic elegance of kacchū. The armor can also be worn, as the total weight has been kept to around 20 kg.
